Program Objective


 

The core objective of the program is to produce Business Managers having expertise in maritime affairs for the optimum handling of challenges related to Inter Continental logistics, Ports and Shipping Management,Marine Environmental Administration,Maritime Safety and least but not the last Disaster Management.

 


PROGRAM SPECIFICATIONS :

The Programme gives students up-to-date insight into modern management theories and practice and their application in the maritime sector. The Programme adopts a holistic view of Maritime business and logistics as well as maritime law, supply chain and port operation and management.

After having completed the Programme the students are expected to have developed a broad understanding of the many challenges in the maritime sector and acquired top international skills in business administration, reflecting the needs of the industry in a world where there is an ever-increasing demand on top management due to globalization, competitive pressure, and the speed of technological change.

Duration

MBA in Maritime is a two year programme. In terms of study hours the programme is equivalent to 75 Credit Hours. This includes scheduled lectures, assignments, case studies, projects, papers, other independent studies and visits to maritime organizations.

Upon successful completion of the Programme, graduates are awarded a Master of Business Administration in Maritime and are entitled to the privileges of the MBA degree.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution is a prerequisite for entering the MBA Maritime Programme. Applicants with a non-qualifying academic background (or an unaccredited academic background) will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) conducted by Bahria University.

Prior to admission, applicants are interviewed and an individual assessment of the suitability of an applicant is made based upon the above requirements and the result of the interview. The Academic Council can grant dispensation from the above-mentioned requirements, if they find that the applicant has the necessary professional qualifications.

Structure and Content

The Programme combines general management theories and methods with industry specific topics. In comparison to the general MBA it puts less emphasis on accounting and more on market analysis, logistics and technology, management, reflecting the educational needs of the maritime sector.
